Why your Facebook News Feed will be more visible now

Facebook News FeedDon’t be disheartened if your friends did not comment on your Facebook post that you so lovingly crafted. It is quite possible that your post was buried in the Facebook News Feed.

Now, that will not happen. Facebook has tweaked its News Feed ranking algorithm. Your Facebook update, be it text, video or photograph, will not be lost in the Facebook News feed.

So, what has Facebook done to make life easier for you? It has decided to listen more carefully to News Feed signals.

The Facebook algorithm will now monitor the likes on your posts more carefully; it will note who interacts more with your postings and status updates; it will also record who ignores your News Feeds.

This will provide Facebook with a roadmap to deliver your News Feed prominently to those who want to follow your Facebook updates.

More important, your News Feed will be pushed to the top of the column and become visible to your friends even if they have logged in late.

For instance, you may have done your status update at 8 in the morning but your friend may have logged in at 8 in the evening. In the past, the chances were that he may miss your status update.

Now, that will not happen. The Facebook News Feed algorithm will push your organic post on top of the column if it is still receiving likes or comments.

Facebook research shows that before the change “people read 57% of the stories in their News Feeds, on average. They did not scroll far enough to see the other 43%. When the unread stories were resurfaced, the fraction of stories read increased to 70%.”

So, rejoice. The chances of your Facebook News Feed being seen, liked or commented has gone up several notches.
