Revealed: The secret of getting your page indexed by Google

Get your page indexed using Google search console.

Everyone wants their web pages indexed by Google. I am sure you too would want Google to index your page and start sending visitors.

The question is: Google may take a week, maybe a month to do so. It is also possible that the wait period may stretch to six months or even more.

So, how do you make Google notice your web page and index it in hours?

Step 1: Visit Google Search Console

You first need to log into Google Search Console. If you already have a Google account you can do this by using the same login and password. Otherwise, you need to set up a Google account to access Google Search Console.

Step 2: Add and verify your website

enter website name in google search consoleAdd your website property into Google Search console. To do this, enter the web address of your property in the Property Selector, which is located on the top left corner of the Google Search Console.

Google will now ask you to confirm that you are the rightful owner of the website. To do so, you can visit Google’s Verify your site ownership page and choose any one of the six options that Google provides website owners to verify their web property.

Once your website is verified you are ready to go.

Step3: Check if your page is indexed

The Google Search console has an Inspect any URL box right on top of the page. All that you need to do is to type your blog or article URL, and hit Enter.

Inspect url

Google will immediately inform you if your page has been indexed or not. It will also tell you whether the page has been crawled or discovered. You will see the following message on your screen if the page has not been indexed:

Page not indexed

Step 4: Request indexing for non-indexed pages

In case, your page is not indexed then enter the page URL again and click on the Request Indexing option.  Google will inform you that your indexing request has been accepted and the following message will come up on your screen:

Page indexing requested accepted by Google

Step 5: Check if indexing has happened

You can check after a few hours or the next day whether the page has been indexed or not. This can be done by entering the page URL once again in the Inspect any URL box.

The following message will be displayed on the page:

Page url has been indexed by Google

You will also be advised whether the page is usable on mobile or not and it AMP status. You can check the reasons in case your page does not fit the criteria, and resubmit the Page URL after correcting the errors.

Caution: Please note that indexing is not equivalent to search ranking. They are two different variables altogether.  The page rank depends upon 200 plus variables.

Indexing is the first step towards getting your page appear in Google search results.

Go Social: It is important that people discover your page at the earliest. So, you need not wait for Google. Submit your page to all your social media handles.
