How India’s English media headlined Assembly results

Broomed. That’s how The Telegraph headlined the humbling of Congress in the four states where Assembly elections were held. The pun was also on broom, the Aam Aadmi Party symbol, in the headlines run by The Hindustan Times and Mid-Day.

Deccan Chronicle and Statesman chose to pitch the results as semi-finals. But Aam Aadmi Party was the flavour of most headlines — and rightly so. The debutant had upset the veterans’ election cart.
