How to create following without content

curate contentWhat a contradiction! Who is going to follow you if you offer no content? Why would anyone consider you a thought leader?

You need to say something original for others to respect you. But then you also know that the net is brimming with content. Who has the time to read new content?

This is your cue. You may not create content. But you may curate content. When you do so, you create something that is valuable. You give a reason for people to follow you.

So, what should be your strategy?

Step 1
Pick a subject:
Find a subject that you know. It can be as mundane as hair dressing. But it is a subject that has a wide following. Every man and woman since the dawn of history has been obsessed with hair.

Step 2
Create an identity
: Decide a user name. It should be one that is available across the key social media platforms. Use it to create your Twitter Handle, Facebook Page, Pinterest Board and Google+ Circle.

Step 3
Explore the net
: Devour every article on hair dressing, hair grooming, hair styling or hair products that you can find. Select the articles that are unique, which promise a benefit. These can be formulas for getting rid of dandruff, magic potions to make your hair grow again, styling techniques that can make you look like Cleopatra. Share them on Twitter, on Facebook, on Google+, on Pinterest.

Step 4
Start conversations
: Don’t just share content, but also build conversations around the content that you are sharing. Make your followers believe that you are an authority on hair grooming. The trick here is not to talk about yourself but to share tips given by others. You will find a small audience converging around you, an audience that is thankful to you for guiding them to articles of their interest.

Step 5
Be regular, and be unique
: Every content link that you share must be readable. It is like creating your own Buzz Feed. The only difference is that someone else has created the buzz; you are shining your torch on it to make others see it.
