How to create Facebook Page username

A Facebook Page is a valuable virtual property for any business, an important web address to own, use and share. There are hundreds of thousands of businesses that have set up Facebook Pages. However, not every business has optimized its Facebook Page to generate response.

One of the common mistakes that most businesses make is not to customize their Facebook Page address. When you create a Facebook Page, the Facebook programme automatically assigns a page address. This address is a number of your Facebook page. For instance, when I created a Facebook page in my name, I was assigned this web address by Facebook:

Now, how do I share this web address? It will take hours for anyone to enter the web address of my Facebook Page.

You should not make the same mistake. You should select a username that best reflects your business. For instance, you own an apparel store by the name of Monica Dresses then your Facebook Page address should be https://www.facebook.com/monicadresses. If this address is not available, you explore https://www.facebook.com/monica.dresses

The username can be added in four simple steps:

Step 1: Login to your Facebook account, and open your Facebook Page. Click Edit Page and then select Update Page Info

Step 2: Click on Page Address Edit Button:

Step 3: Click on Change web address hyperlink

Step 4: Enter your business name as the Page name. Facebook does not allow spaces between words so you will have to enter your business name as one word. Check Availability, and Save.

Facebook will check its database to confirm if the username is available or not. If it is, then Click Save.

You now have a Facebook address which is the name of your business. To retain it, you must use the Page regularly. Prolonged inactivity can lead to your username being scrapped.

Please be careful in choosing your username. Facebook allows you to change the username only once. Also, you cannot change your username if your Facebook Page has accumulated 200 Likes.
