Are you one of those bloggers who is waiting for traffic to arrive? Don’t worry. Follow the eleven tips given here. You will notice a perceptible difference in blog arrivals. More important, your visitors will start spending time on your blog making you a happy blogger.
1. Posting frequency
A tricky question is your posting schedule. Should you post every day, every three days or once a week? It is important that there is fresh content on your site for readers to return. One way of doing this is to mention the posting frequency on your About page, and then ensure that you don’t miss your deadlines.
2. Writing quality
Remember that readers want to browse content that has value. If your posts do not offer new information, new insights or are badly written then the chances of readers coming back are negligible. So, spend time in deciding your idea. Research it. Give it a riveting angle, and then publish it. Also, make sure that there are no errors.
- Hook your readers with headlines
Headlines are like fish baits. Readers will not nibble on your writings unless your headlines hook them. Your best posts will go unnoticed if the headlines don’t motivate readers to click on them.
- Use related blogs to increase your reach
Search the net to find similar blogs. Select the best ones, and link to them. The pingback feature will notify them that you have linked to their blog. They may visit your blog, and, who knows, even provide links to your posts.
- Be active, comment on blogs that are similar to your blog
It is not enough to link to other blogs. It is equally important to be noticed by others. Your comments, if they are well thought out and valuable, may motivate people to start visiting your blog. They will see your name and click on the hyperlink to reach your blog. Your readership will start growing.
- Reply to comments
Like you, every reader wants to be noticed. Make sure that you respond to every comment that is posted on your bog. By doing so, you build a relationship. Your readers too will start spending more time on your blog.
- Build a strong About Us Page
Your first task should be to post a short bio about yourself on the About Us page. The information should include who you are and what you do. This will give visitors confidence to read what you write. They will come back for more if they are satisfied that your writings are not rants but valuable insights. Here, it is important that you stick to facts, and avoid any false build up.
- Promote on Social Media
You need to reach out to as many readers as possible, and for this the best way is to promote your blog on social media platforms. Share every new post of yours on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest.
- Activate Share buttons
Give your readers the opportunity to share your posts. To do this, integrate social media buttons on your blog pages. The buttons can be placed prominently, in the sidebar or on top of the page. You can also integrate them at two places on the page so that they get noticed. Your reach will start going up.
- Provide Subscription facility
Activate the Subscriptions widget. The readers will receive an email every time you publish a post. A few of them may even click on the blogpost link and reach your blog.
- Request suggestions
No blog post can be the final word on any subject. There will always be some point that is missing or some angle that has not been explored. Invite your reader to complete your blog by leaving their suggestions/opinions in the comment box. This will build a lively debate, and make readers return more often.
