Facebook’s India story continues to be stunning. The June 30, 2011 data released by Internetworldstats.com places the number of Indian users at 29.47 million.
This is 6.45 million more as compared to March 2011 when the number of Indians with a Facebook account stood at 23.02 million.
In other words, for the period April to June 2011 more than 2 million Indians joined Facebook every month.
With this, the Facebook penetration in India has risen to 2.5%. This figure does not sound as impressive because Internetworldstats.com defines Facebook penetration as the ratio of Facebook users in relation to the total population.
However, when you compare the Facebook reach to the number of Internet users in India then this number is certainly impressive. It shows that every third Internet user in India has a Facebook account.
