Don’t be surprised to see your parents, uncles or aunts on Facebook.
A recent post on Inside Facebook titled Facebook Growth Accelerates Among Older Users in India reveals that 1% of Facebook users from India are in the 55-65 age group.
The share of the 45-54 age group is 3% while that of the 35-44 age group is 8%.
The highest percentage of Facebook users is in the 18-25 age group (53%) with the 26-34 age group forming 25%.
It is not surprising to see the sudden surge in the older population getting onto Facebook. It starts off with parents connecting to children who are posted abroad. Soon, the network widens, and the addiction grows.
India is not the only country where the elderly are becoming part of the Facebook crowd. A similar trend is seen in countries like the USA and Canada also.
